Strive for progress not perfection

Writer's picture: Irene TaylorIrene Taylor

In one of my classes last week, I was again reminded of the importance of something in Yoga.

Progress over perfection.

Each time we step on the mat it is good to gently remind ourselves of this. The progress on our own individual journey we take is what really matters.

We all start from different starting points. We slowly work and discover things about our bodies and minds, what works, what makes us feel better. We find what needs attention and we give it some time and love and things improve little by little.

We are not practising for perfection. We are practicing for progression.

So next time you step on the mat, don't worry so much about trying to get into a perfect pose, but more about what the pose is doing and what it feels like to you.

It's all about our journey of progression.
